East India Youth joins Forest Swords, The Lone Taxidermist, English Heretic, Ten Mouth Electron and Luke Abbott to celebrate film and literature’s lesser-known characters, in a project entitled Minor Characters.
Liverpool International Music Festival, in partnership with The Arts Council and The Quietus, sought out six artists to explore the “hitherto untold stories of the bit parts, the unnamed roles, the small cogs in the machine which are nonetheless essential to its working.”
The artists will each create a new piece of work based on the imagined life of a different minor character. The results will be released digitally through the Quietus Phonographic Corporation and be free to download later this year, coinciding with the project’s centrepiece event at The Kazimier on August 29.
There’ll be an exhibition of specially-produced artwork inspired by the concept, including pieces by prolific Liverpool poster producer Gary McGarvey, aka Horse
